Westshore Primary School is located in the suburb of Westshore, Napier and caters to children aged 5-11 (years 1-6). The school's unique environment boasts beach, surf life saving, our own rocky shore, estuary, cycling and walking trails, and marina. We are a small school, culturally diverse with a strong community feel. Westshore School is an inclusive school and is not currently zoned. We have a decile 5M rating.
We live by our motto "Growing, Sharing, Learning, Together - Tipu, Tuari Haere, Ako, Kotahitanga" and the Board of Trustees along with teaching and operational staff are dedicated to providing a positive learning environment in which children can excel. Westshore School is a place where children learn to be lifelong learners. We embrace "Cooperative Learning" and" Learning through Play" principles to support student learning. This allows our children to learn in supportive and modern environment.
We think it’s important to help students make positive choices about learning and use classroom layout in ways that bring them together into supportive team settings that encourage learning.
The professional teaching staff introduce innovative ways to ensure their students are engaged and happy to learn. We believe this enables students to attain a higher level of understanding that readies them for the next stage in their education.
The Board of Trustees at Westshore School realise that if our children are to achieve academically, are comfortable with their own identity, are healthy and make the most of their talents, an astute use of resources is needed. Learning extends beyond the classroom and is incorporated in the many extracurricular activities our children participate in, both within and outside of the school environment. These include various Team Sports, the Arts, Music and Cultural.
Our Location
Westshore School is located on Ferguson Avenue in the Westshore Suburb of Napier. As already mentioned the school boasts a unique setting beside the sea.
We use this environment as part of the teaching programmes at Westshore School with a focus of exploring and understanding natural settings both within the school gardens, along the seashore and estuary.
Our school is conveniently located with excellent transport links to the nearby suburbs of Bay View, Ahuriri, Napier Hill and Parklands to name a few. A school bus operates to and from the school gate and Le Quesne Road Bay View, with numerous stops in between, at no cost to users.
