Welcome to Room 8, 2017. This year Room 8 is made up of 12 year 6 students and 13 year 5 students, Mrs Stacey Prasad who helps us from 9:00 to 12:00 and a fun loving teacher who adores superheroes (that’s me – Mrs Kris Robins).
This year we are encouraging our senior students to take on roles of responsibility. These roles include being a school Ambassador, House and deputy House Captains and being a Peer Support Leader. I am proud to say that each class member has put themselves forward for the opportunity to be a leader within the school. This is not as straight forward as simply volunteering. The students who applied to be Ambassadors had to write a short statement about the skills they could bring to the role and then presented their case to the whole school, including parents. Quite a challenge for anyone.
On the 24th of March, 23 keen students will be undertaking 3 hours of training with me at Pettigrew Green Arena in order to become a PAL (Physical Activity Leader). The students learn how to; run fun games for the juniors, set up equipment, referee games, solve simple disputes, and develop their leadership skills. I am very excited to be training so many students this year.
